Ithaca, 17 February 08 -- A blow-out win for Cornell's men's ice hockey team last night snapped a three-game losing skid and left the Big Red in fourth place in league standings. Cornell trounced Rensselaer 7-1 on Saturday after a lackluster 3-2 loss to Union on Friday night.

Cornell's Saturday night win, combine with Colgate's 8-0 triumph over Union on Saturday, allowed the Big Red to edge back into fourth place, keeping alive hopes of a first-round playoff bye.

The Big Red are on the road this weekend at Quinnipiac and Princeton, before returning home to close out the season against Dartmouth and Harvard.

This weekend also closed out the "Pink at the Rink" fundraiser for the American Cancer Society across the ECAC. Coaches have been wearing pink ties, and Cornell's women's team wore pink jerseys, to be auctioned off for charity. The fundraiser spanned various sports (women's basketball also got into the action) and included the sale of pink "Coaches vs Cancer" wristbands. ECAC hockey referee Peter Feola was even seen wearing a pink armband over the regulation orange stripe earlier this month.
